Martha was annoying in her original episodes. So was Rose. My girlfriend loved Rose. I prefer Donna, she was the only one that didn’t have some type of infatuation with the Doctor. I also like Clara unlike a lot of people, she is my second favorite.

Everyone should watch Old Who too, but she was a full on companion, a best friend in New Who, and had a pretty good spin off where she drove a Nissan Figaro

I would assume it's just like satellite and cable, they don't want to pay the price that is demanded. I'm pretty sure Amazon paid a pretty penny for exclusive access to Who just like Netflix did with Disney.
